Why I Study the Bible Even Though I'm a Science Major
My biochemistry professor once told our class that faith and science are fundamentally incompatible. I didn't argue. I just thought about it for three weeks. Here's where I landed: science tells me how, scripture tells me why. They're not competing — they're answering different questions. When I look at the complexity of a single cell, the precision of DNA replication, the absurd improbability of life itself — I don't feel my faith shrinking. I feel it expanding. The God I read about in Genesis who "formed man from the dust of the ground" — I study that dust every day in lab. It's intricate beyond anything we've fully mapped. That doesn't make me less of a scientist. It makes me a more astonished one. Lead with Light gave me a community where I don't have to pretend those two parts of me are at war. That has been worth more than I can put into words.
